How to decorate a small space

Just because you have to work within a small space, doesn't mean that you can't flaunt your style and creativity. You can transform your space from something small and boxy to something full of personality, with just a few easy steps. Here's some tips that will make your home shine, you'll be surprised at the transformation.

Mirror mirror on the wall

If you don't have the advantage of natural light in your space, mirrors add additional lighting to your space by reflecting light and giving the illusion of more space. They are also practical too, who doesn't love a quick mirror check of themselves before they head out the door! Use one large mirror on a wall opposite a window, if possible, or arrange a few smaller mirrors throughout a room. Let the light in

Small spaces can often end up feeling dark and cramp without any natural light shining through. The right lighting can really open up a small room, but if you do not have access to natural light, you can always decorate your room with additional lighting through floor lamps or table lamps. Beautiful lamps can also add personality to your room and reflect your own style. Just like our Palm Table Lamp for an exotic and elegant touch.

Get rid of clutter by getting creative with storage

Excessive clutter is the enemy to small spaces (cue, and enter in Maria Kondo). You can end up feeling cramped and suffocated when you are surrounded by clutter. One of the great benefits of living in a small space, is the opportunity to really clear the clutter to end up getting rid of things that don't serve a purpose, or even store them away in the garage or an external storage unit for safe keeping. For those items that you have kept, there are great storage options that you can place in your space that also act as beautiful decorative pieces. Creative sofas and ottomans come with additional hidden storage solutions which are perfect to keep your everyday items close by.

Create a distraction with a centerpiece artwork

It's all about tricking the mind into thinking a space is larger than it is. The mind is a funny thing, who would've known you could disguise the size of a small room. That is where decorative pieces come into the picture. Hanging a striking piece of artwork as a centerpiece, or creative wall coverings or even a clock, will help draw the eye to capture attention.
